A better way to drink coffee!
I bought one for work, and one for home/on the go of the 3.0, which has the lock button on the side instead of the top like on the 2.0. It keeps my coffee perfect for a long time and I’m very happy with the no spill feature. It fits well in my car, unlike the last tumbler I had. Hand washing the inner mechanism of the lid requires a little more care, but overall I would recommend this product. In fact, I bought one for my son. This is definitely a better way to drink coffee without the fear of spilling. I also bought replacement stoppers for the spout, but I doubt I will need them for a long time.

Back to the most reliable bottle ever
After having purchased all the expensive insulated ramblers and tumblers (Yeti, Hydro flask…) with their faulty unreliable tops–and most are not rated for hot drinks. I re-examined my cabinet to realize that my oldest reliable insulated hot/cold bottle that has never ever leaked is my Contigo 16 oz autoseal top thermo/tumbler. The Contigo I purchased in a two pack from Costco like 20 years ago for $15 has outlasted all the expensive name brand bottles, and I’m not even talking about the Stanley bottles–that we used to give away to the donation centers because we would get them with every single $10 purchase and they were also unimpressive so not sure why they’re so popular but good for that company’s publicist for cashing in on influencer culture! So I started looking for an autoseal Contigo brand water bottle, because the one I have is my reliable tea or coffee thermo but needed one that was bigger for water and for longer days worth of hot drinks and sure enough found this 24-oz. I wish they had it in other colors, but the old one I have is also stainless steel and it has held up better than bottles that are two three times more expensive… I hate that I contributed to so much waste by giving those other expensive insulated tumbers a chance even though they all failed in various ways. From experience: the top has held up perfectly in the dishwasher and even the bottle has accidentally survived the dishwasher over the nearly 20 years we’ve had it.

Superior in every way to the previous model.
After over 3 years of almost 7 day a week use my old Contigo mug broke (Face plate that secures the “drink” button fell off). I was really bummed as I literally use this 6-7 days a week).Looked at alternatives and didn’t like any of them. Looked for the exact same model and no joy unless I wanted to buy some old stock at a huge price mark up. So I figured I’d try the new model.Pros:- No faceplate to fall off- Amazingly keeps my coffee even hotter long than the old model. Almost too hot. 6 hours after pouring into the mug it’s still piping hot. Just insane.- New lid design! new lid springs out fully. Looks like it will be much easier to reattach springs if they come loose and much harder to accidently dislodge the spring.Cons:- Says not dishwasher safe.Overall this new model is a vast improvement. I absolutely love this new model.

    Keeps drinks hot longer
I love this travel mug. I got this to replace my 3 to 4 year old Contigo travel mug that was getting cold quickly. I believe the enclosed part of the lid (the part for hanging tea bags) is helping to keep drinks hotter longer. I’ve been using Contigo travel mugs for 10+ years now and I’ve never had any of them keep drinks as hot as this one does. Sometimes I forget I still have coffee in it to drink after 5-6 hours and it will still be hot. My old one was getting cold after 3 hours.I did use it for ice water when I first got it and it worked well to keep my water cold for hours. I mainly use it for coffee and not cold drinks.

Disappointing departure from Perfection, stick with v2.0
The West Loop 3.0 is a disappointing refresh of the near perfectly designed West Loop 2.0.I purchased the West Loop 3.0, looking forward to seeing even better changes, but it seems the design updates have moved backwards. Here are a few of the design quirks I’ve noticed that seem like gross design flaws:-The “insulating plastic lid” hinge. The West Loop 3.0 now has a gigantic plastic hinged part that fills most of the lid’s void, something the West Loop 2.0 lid did not have. I assume this change is an effort to insulate the top of the mug – the weak point for thermal loss of the entire mug (and to note, it was never quite a problem, the 3.0 just adds even BETTER insulation). The issue with this design is that it traps liquid up there. It drains eventually, but liquid lingers just long enough that if you don’t have your mug upright for a beat, turn it vertical and immediately go to drink it (something I’ve done many times with my 2.0, think picking it up off my passenger seat while it was laying sideways), you’ll spill hot coffee out the mug from the button side OR sometimes out the mouthpiece, ‘burping’ it onto the top of the lid. Heck, I’ve had the mug ‘burp’ liquid onto the top of the lid when releasing the button too fast after taking a sip! This was not an issue I’ve had with the 2.0, and to me, the 2.0 set the standard for “controlled liquids.” The 3.0 fails to meet that standard. What I thought was a functional improvement is actually a huge drawback.-The reduced flare to the top. The 2.0 version had a ‘flaring’ to the top of the lid, which provided GREAT grippability. Leaving your hand in a gripped position, the mug could NOT slip out of your hands without you opening your hands more. Not the case with the 3.0. Its straight design means the lid, the place where you usually hold the mug, can slip right out of your hands if you don’t have a firm grip on it.The 2.0 version also had half of the lid clad with a rubbery grip. This was fantastic for grip friction, meaning a light grip was very doable for even a full mug. For some odd reason, the 3.0 version removed the rubber, meaning the slippery plastic with its non-flared design can slip in your hand if you don’t have a good grip on it! If you have dry hands (or slippery gloves on) and hold the mug lightly, it can slip right out of your hands!-The new button lock. One of the less-than-perfect parts of the 2.0 version, IMO, was the button lock – located on the top of the lid. This lock is critical when you throw your mug on a car seat or somewhere, and something places weight on the main dispense button. The button lock ensures it doesn’t inadvertently open and leak coffee everywhere. On the 3.0, they moved this button lock down next to the main button and switched designs from a rocker switch to a slider switch. In theory, this is a great change! However, they chose to use a switch that is rather small, so being able to manipulate the switch with gloves or big hands might prove difficult, an accessibility issue not found on the 2.0 version. As for the positive changes from version 2.0 to 3.0:-The deeper lip. The deeper lip is nice; it’s a great addition. It feels more like drinking from a mug and less like chewing a corner.-The mug’s aesthetic design. I got the “crystal sake” color, which is gorgeous. I wish they made this with the 2.0 version. The lid also looks very nice with the brushed aluminum button and the more minimalized design, removing the silver button border. It looks very nice and is a nice facelift from the 2.0.-Cleaning. It appears their plastic hinge design has cleaned up the top of the lid, meaning cleaning should be slightly easier.-Seal design. The 3.0 has an ‘inner’ lid seal that compresses to the mug when you fasten it. This is a departure from the “on top” lid seal of the 2.0, which met the 2.0 mug’s sharp top. While my 2.0, going on 8 years of daily service, is still sealing just fine, I had always wondered how the design changes would hold up. Hopefully, the new design is either equal to or an improvement over the old. If I keep using the 3.0, time will tell. The tl;dr: stick with the West Loop 2.0, honestly. The updates made to the 3.0 are a disappointing downgrade to the near-perfect design of the West Loop 2.0.

Well design and great insulated mug
This is my first Contigo insulated mug. This is better than any other mug I have used in the past. The lid design allows for easy cleaning of the mechanism. The finish on the stainless is also very good. I highly recommended my friends to buy this at the discounted price when it is available.

I have spent many hours researching travel mugs, so I could finally have a leak free hot latte every morning when I commute to work. This was the winner. With this leak free AUTO SEAL mechanism , a Mercedes of coffee mugs. It was expensive too, minimum £25 so I decided to wait an order one on AMAZON US half the price including the delivery . I even ordered extra one for my partner. While I was waiting I bought a budget HIWILL Double Walled Vacuum Insulated Travel Coffee Mug, for ten pounds. I chose the smaller size for my son and was using it while waiting for Contigo. Yes it was too small for a large latte but leak proof and hot for hours!!! When contigo 2.0 arrived it was impressive but heavy. The auto seal works well and it’s easy to clean. It’s bigger than Hiwill but that’s what I wanted, Unfortunately coffee loose the temperature very quickly. Having been using the hiwill I could feel huge difference. No more hot coffee on my desk when I arrive to work. So disappointed….I am considering sending them back , but it will be to US … UPDATE: After few hit and misses with latte temperature and rinsing the cup with boiling water to make it hot I have no issues with the right temperature for at least 3 hours ! A win!
