Thriving Bird of Paradise – Beautiful Growth Over Time!
When my Bird of Paradise arrived on April 24, I’ll admit I was a little disappointed at first—I was expecting it to be taller. However, I quickly moved past that and focused on helping it adjust to my apartment.I left it in its original packaging for about a week + to acclimate, and I was happy to find that it arrived pest-free and well-watered. A little over a week later, I transferred it into its current pot, removed some of the top covering and soil, and replaced it with fresh soil.I water sparingly, bottom water when needed, and mist occasionally. I also wipe down the leaves regularly. Since then, the plant has thrived—it’s produced four beautiful new leaves, and a fifth is on the way! It seems to have adjusted well to my space. It receives plenty of natural light, and I supplement with a grow light on gloomy days to ensure consistent care.Overall, I’m very satisfied with the purchase. Fine, but get ready to learn how to heal it
I understand the necessity to produce plants at a pace that allows to meet demand, but the weak roots of the two transplanted pieces I received meant I had to learn how to REALLY care for them. One of those two pieces is still fighting for its life, but I’m hopeful it will revive or at least to recover a cutting to transplant later.

UPDATE- May 16thThis girl grows like a wildflower. I’ve gotten 3 new beautiful leaves since February. I did make a boo-boo. Put her out on my back deck early spring and, the wind with the help of my two German Shepherds really tore up the leaves brushing up against her. But, it’s ok. She’s got character and, as I stated in my first review BOP’s leaves rip easily and, it’s natural in their habitat. I repotted her about two weeks ago and, the newest leaf that emerged over the weekend was my biggest. If you love Bird Of Paradise this is a must have. This was a wishlist plant for me. And, I love her. She’s back in my sunroom in front of a, south facing window.Whatever you do…wait a bit before repotting. Let her get used to your home. And, enjoy her beauty. If you received her with the white planter make sure there is no standing water in it when watering. You certainly don’t want root rot.UPDATE- my BOP has a new leaf about to open in less than 2 weeks!!!2/12/24First of all my box came in perfect condition. Thank you, USPS. Second, upon opening the top of the box as soon as I saw the first leaf. I, gasped. What an enormous beauty. After, I unpacked her and, got the plastic wrap off I was surprised to see not, 1 but, 2 plants in the pot!!! What a nice surprise. I absolutely will be separating after they have acclimated to the conditions of my sunroom.I read a ton of reviews on this. And, some folks complained about the decorative pot they did NOT receive. Please, pay attention when ordering. There are two options for this BOP. With two different prices.I also read complaints about the tears in the leaves. People, in this plants natural environment there will be tears. That is part of what makes this plant perfectly, imperfect. I just want to say to, Costa Farms you’ve put done yourself. I am beyond please with my purchase. If this plant is on your wishlist. Get it, NOW!!! Worde do not describe the atmosphere it brings to a room. Ahh, I’m so, in love. If you do receive a plant with yellowing. Just trim it off. Make sure to use sanitized cutters. I am now a Costa Farms customer for life!!!!

Overall, beautiful condition
Overall a beautiful plant. It arrived crushed and many leaves damaged but I trimmed the worst of it. Once it has more new growth I’ll trim more off, I’m hopeful that in a year it will be in better condition. I’ll probably stick to a closer nursery, I haven’t had good luck with Costa shipping to where I am in the opposite side of the country.
