Furry on both sides!
Looooove this blanket. I wanted a blanket that was furry on both sides, which is surprisingly hard to find. So glad I came across this one. It’s super soft and beautiful. I got the light brown. It’s such a nice shade, soothing and sophisticated.

Instead, I’m genuinely annoyed that this blanket is actually worth the splurge. The moment I wrapped myself in this cream-colored masterpiece, my skepticism melted away. It’s like being enveloped by thick teddy bear – thick faux fur with a unique bubble texture that creates satisfying hills and valleys under your fingers. Okay, FINE. It might actually be worth the money.
OK, I’m a skeptical sort. With the number of banner ads Cozy Earth serves me, I was confident I was getting taken for a ride – how can a blanket be worth $306? You might be wondering the same thing, and if so, I regret to inform you it’s actually super, super nice. You can keep your Gucci and Louis Vuitton – this is what you’d find me buying if I was fabulously wealthy.My partner looked over at me when I unpacked the blanket and wrapped myself in it and laughed at me: “That scowl is because you’re annoyed, because it’s actually great, aren’t you?” They weren’t wrong.This is a fluffy gray blanket coated in a thick gray fur-like material. It’s like someone skinned the plushest stuffed animal you can imagine and made it into a massive blanket. But it’s not just a flat sheet of the plush material – it’s textured in a kind of egg crate texture every few inches, like someone precisely bunched it up while sewing. Feeling these undulating hills and valleys is uniquely satisfying.The weighted part is real, too – this isn’t a light blanket, to the point where you might not want to give it to someone if they’re recovering from surgery and unable to lift more than a couple pounds. It’s not too heavy in use, though – just right to be satisfying and comforting.Uniquely, the outside border isn’t finished in a binding – the blanket just kind of stops, with some kind of sorcery (really, a wavy stitch) continuing the eggcrate bubble pattern over to the other side.This is a massive blanket. It’s almost exactly the size of a Full size mattress top – not quiiiite large enough to be used as a comforter because it doesn’t continue down over the sides, but certainly enough to cuddle under with a partner on the couch or while relaxing in bed.My only real concern, other than my bank account, is washability – this thing is just too much blanket to put in most washing machines, and the material is so uniquely plush I fear i wouldn’t survive the cleaning process well. They suggest machine washing on cold or dry cleaning, and that feels right to me – if you’re the sort who tosses their blanket into the wash every week, this probably isn’t the right fit for you, and you’ll definitely want to set it aside before eating pizza or spaghetti on the couch.The closest analogy I can think of for this blanket in quality is our Little Giraffe throw, another luxury blanket brand we’re familiar with from a boutique children’s shop. Compared with that, the pricing here actually isn’t crazy – their comparably sized blanket is also $300ish. With the plush, thick fur, bubble texture and weighted interior, I actually think I like the Cozy Earth one a little more than the thinner Little Giraffe, although I think both have earned a place in our home for sure.
