This blender is absolutely amazing.
I use this thing DAILY to make smoothies. It literally crushes ice like it’s NOTHING. It’s so strong. The blades aren’t “sharp” – you can actually stick your hand in there while cleaning it, and feel that they’re not like a knife. And that’s fine because they don’t need to be! They make perfect smoothies despite not being sharp.Someone on here said that you can’t tell the difference between settings 1 vs 2 vs 3 etc vs 4 vs 5 vs 6 – you definitely can. It’s subtle but it’s there.There are five super minor gripes I have with it that I wish I knew before I got it, BUT honestly I love it so much I don’t really mind:1. It’s very loud. I mean… it’s a powerful blender, so I guess that’s normal? But I like to walk away so that it’s not just screaming in my ear lol2. It’s really lowkey irritating trying to put the lid on (and even more annoying trying to take it off), so if you have weak hands I’d go with a different blender. It’s not like the WORST thing ever, but it does make you say “ugh” when you get ready to take it off or put it on. On a side note, when you get the lid on, it’s ON. it won’t fly off, which I really do appreciate, as I can walk away from it while it’s doing its thing (because, again, it’s so loud lol). It also doesn’t rattle or anything like that, so I really like it!3. This is probably my biggest gripe: it’s glass. That means when making smoothies, you have to be careful not to run it under hot water directly after. I keep almost forgetting, which makes me worried that I’ll break it from the shock of the hot water or if I drop it. On the plus side, the heavy glass really makes you feel like it’s a sturdy, quality product!4. It’s in that weird space between “big enough for 3 small glasses or two large glasses”. It would be nice if it were just the TINIEST bit bigger.5. Sometimes it seems more blended at the bottom than at the top. It’s possible the smoothies I make are just too thick and I should add more liquid or something, but it’s sliiiightly noticeable. Honestly I don’t really care that much though. It’s not like it doesn’t blend it.All in all though I am extremely happy with it, those were just me complaining. The blender is great. If you want something that is affordable and super powerful and won’t leave you with chunks, get it.

6 weeks in, I love this blender!
I love that this blender comes with a large capacity glass jar and is SO easy to disassemble and clean! It’s quite powerful, no issues so far. Everything I’ve tried blending has come out smoothly. It is a bit louder than I remember my last blender being, but since it blends quite quickly, I don’t mind this. The lid has a very tight fit. At first it was hard to get on and off for someone with weaker hands, but this became easier by the 3rd or 4th time I used it. It feels very sturdy and hefty, which leads me to think that it will last me a long time. Great blender for the price.

Great blender except for the lid
I love everything about this Hamilton Beach blender except the lid. It’s an old and trusted brand, the glass container is great, and it performs well. The concept of a pour spout and hatch to add ingredients in the lid is great, but the lid is very difficult to seat securely if you, like me, are elderly with arthritis and a wonky hand. The outer edge of the lid needs to slide over the glass container, but it’s fairly stiff plastic and it tends to pop off if it’s not on there perfectly. That’s a disaster if you turn it over to pour. I learned my lesson. It’s definitely not a one-handed or even a one and a half handed operation. I’ve learned to set it in the sink when I’m ready to secure the lid in order to have enough leverage to secure the lid.

Its still blending everything we put in it. It is durable, and has good capacity for what we need. It has lasted for a while and functions well all the time. ITS NOISY BUT IT WORKS WELL ENOUGH THAT A LITTLE NOISE DOES NOT LOWER ITS WORTH.

Leaves no ice chunks!
I purchased this blender for the sole purpose of making smoothies. The fact that the description said “blender for smoothies” is the main reason I purchased this particular one. You guys. This blender is amazing! First, I love that it’s glass instead of plastic, but this thing blends a smoothie up in a minute or less and leaves absolutely zero chunks of ice. I’m very impressed with the quality of this blender and would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a good smoothie blender!

HUGE disappointment! Poorly engineered!
PLEASE do your sanity a favor and do not purchase this blender.The worst offender: The lid is horrible!So insanely hard to remove, I’ve nearly sent the whole unit across the kitchen attempting to take off the lid. It is not the classic rubber lids of history, but a very stiff material that doesn’t flex. I ignorantly believed it might loosen a bit with use – this has proven to be false – still as rigid as the first use, and just as profanity inducing. The “valve” on top doesn’t secure and the hinge shows signs of fatigue. The pour spout leaks, and is not well positioned for adding fluids, with a flapper lid that falls easily, closing off access as you are drizzling contents in.The blender blades do not move the contents well beyond the bottom couple inches, and the lid referenced above makes stirring the contents a real headache. The screw-on base feels so cheap, and often comes loose from the unit while blending; I cannot believe it will survive. The glass pitcher is significantly heavier than either of my equal-sized glass pitchers from my older Oster blenders.This blender has been a HUGE disappointment.

Great appliance, hard to get the lid on and off.
Love the performance but if you are not very strong or have arthritis it is very difficult to put the lid on and get it off. I have to have help every time since I have arthritis in my hands.

I’ve had this blender before, and owned many other blenders and found myself coming back to this one, it’s not the greatest high tech blender but it does the job and I never have a clumpy smoothie drink when I use this blender. And I like that it’s really easy to clean once you just take it apart in pieces, which I didn’t realize until just recently.
