Easy to use, even for a low cervix!
I don’t know if I am insanely lucky or if this is just an excellent cup, or perhaps both, but this cup worked perfectly for me on the first try! I had never tried a cup before, so I researched the best reviewed cups on Amazon and this one was among the top listed. After reading countless reviews, tutorials, articles, I realized that I would most likely have a fair amount of trial and error before I could make a cup work, especially since I exclusively use pads instead of tampons. I have an extremely low cervix (I can feel it with my finger inserted slightly past my first knuckle when menstruating) so tampons never worked for me. I would insert them and they would slide right past the cervix, leaving a whole side unused and causing frequent leaks. I thought I was cursed to wear pads for the rest of my life, until I discovered menstrual cups!I tried this one out for the first time while on my period and it worked perfectly. This cup rides LOW in me due to my low cervix, though sits safely inside my opening without fear of it popping out. I (obviously) can’t see up in there but I assume my dangly cervix rests inside the bowl of the cup and catches blood. This reduces the capacity it can hold, however I’ve found that I can go about 5 hours between changing it when I’m at my heaviest flow and around 8-10 hours when it is lighter. I wore this overnight on day 2 of my cycle (heaviest flow for me) and I leaked a bit due to it overflowing. I wear the size A cup so I would suggest getting the bigger size if you need more time between changing. I’m also going to purchase the Merula cup (recommended for low cervixes) and use it during my next cycle so I can compare.Some tips for my fellow low riding cervix, short vagina’d ladies:• For your first time, practice inserting it while you’re in the shower.• Wear a pad or panty liner during your cycle if just starting out, especially overnight• The punch fold worked best for me, with one foot on the toilet.• Once inserted about halfway, rotate it slightly while you push in. I’ve found this helped it pop open. Go slow.• Feel around all sides of the cup once inserted to make sure there are no dents and it has suctioned properly, also to insure it has not slid past your cervix. I inserted it one time and felt my cervix was resting against the side, so I had to pull it out a bit and readjust so that I knew it was sitting inside the cup.• Rotate if you feel it is not sitting right. Also try pulling it out a bit, then back in.• Trim the end once you get used to it. Since it rides so low in me I had to trim the stem off since it was sticking out and irritating me• To remove, bear down (as if you are pooping lolz), collapse the base of the cup with your fingers, and pull. I went SLOW to avoid discomfort. Tilt the cup while you are removing it to avoid it spilling prematurely.• Keep it clean! I purchased some specialty menstrual cup soap and wipes and I disinfected it after my period ended by putting it in a mason jar and boiling it in the microwave for about 3-5 minutes.All in all, I couldn’t be more happy with this cup! I’m just starting out, so I will try out more types during my next cycle. This cup was a bajillion times better than itchy, uncomfortable pads or tampons. You put it in, and you’re ready to ignore your period for the next 5-10 hours!

great for a first time menstrual cup user
This is the first menstrual cup I have ever used. I generally use tampons during the day and pads at night. While it was a little difficult and uncomfortable to insert the cup the first time I tried it, the process took less than three minutes. I would imagine it is much harder to insert for people who are not regular tampon users or for people who have never inserted anything into their vaginas. However, if you are committed to sustainability or not spending money every month on pads, then give it a try. Resilience is a wonderful trait.Once the cup is inserted, I don’t really feel it throughout the day, which is nice. I have not had the cup inserted while working out or riding a bike though, so I do not know if it is still comfortable in those situations. I think it is important for me to mention that I have a pretty light flow, so if you have a heavier flow, you might have more issues with the cup (more frequent removal and emptying, more leaking, etc).Pros:-easy enough for beginners-pretty comfortable once inserted-no leaks so far (strong suction)-You don’t have to worry about a wet tampon string (ex: after swimming with a tampon in, accidentally peeing on the string, etc).-it’s sustainable (no more throwing away all that plastic packaging for tampons and pads)-it’s cost-effective (women on average spend something like thousands of dollars on menstrual products throughout their lifetime)-It holds about three tampons worth of fluid, so even though it’s not as easy to insert as a tampon, you don’t have to take it out and re-insert it as much as you would a tampon.Cons:-it’s more difficult to insert than a tampon (it’s girthier than any tampon I’ve used at least)-It’s probably not convenient if you have to empty it out during school or in any public place where the sink is not in the same area as the toilet. (However, given the global pandemic, you hopefully do not have to spend all day in public areas with public restrooms.)-It’s a bit harder to remove than a tampon from a suction standpoint. (I find it best to pull on the little stem thing, and then try to pinch the bottom of the cup to get a better grip.)
