I created this product out of a personal need. I’ve never liked using heat on my hair so I would wash my hair at night and twist it up into a microfiber turban to dry my hair overnight while creating some waves.
There were 2 problems:
1) It always fell off 2) I wanted more curls
So early summer of 2017 I played around with the idea of sewing strips onto a headband. By December we were online and we’ve loved bringing it to you ever since! xo
How did we get our start?
Our founder created the original Octocurl design at her kitchen table in the summer of 2017 by cutting up strips of paper and stapling them to a headband. She became obsessed with this idea and tested all summer by using single strips, double strips, quadruple strips… she wrapped, curled, twisted, bent, & braided.
What problem are we solving?
There are countless heat tools on the market. Our mission is to offer options for great hair styling without the use of heat.

Crazy easy and effective (with update)
These came way earlier than expected and were clearly packaged by somebody who actually cares about their product. I was genuinely expecting mass produced straight from china quality, and while the design is pretty basic, the care and attention to detail is very apparent. I literally just put it in for the first time, my hair is damp so we’ll see how 2ell it works overnight. I can say, I am obsessed with the ease of application and the comfort laying down. I always want to do overnight curls but I can’t stand rods or rollers pressing against my head all night. I specifically got this because I was hoping it might be comfy enough to sleep through the night and I really think it is going to be. I’ll update my review tomorrow but it’s definitely going to give me curls, there’s no question there. I have a dense head of hair that’s about 4″ past my shoulders, the regular length was long enough for me, I feel like I’d benefit from an extra strip but I did a few of the curls by my face with a very small section of hair, so when I got to the back I had to do bigger sections. I’ll get better and portioning out my hair the more I use it. This also comes with a guide that gives you like a million different techniques depending on your hair type and the type of curls you are trying to achieve. Like, if you want to do no heat curls, absolutely buy this.UPDATE:This product is holding fast at 5 stars for me. Although I initially used each individual “leg” to wrap my hair around, the curls were definitely tighter than I prefer. However, my hair is still wavy/curly at this moment and I’m on the fourth day, after violently brushing it multiple times each day lol by the second day the curls loosened beautifully. If this isn’t working for you, you may be overcomplicating the application, because it took me less than 10 minutes to apply, whereas using a curling iron would take over an hour. For those who felt it was rough and tangled, try the poplin/cotton or satin version, they have less grip than the microfiber. I will be playing around to find a application method that gives me the look I prefer. Also, I had no issues sleeping with this in, and I’m the type of person who has a hard time wearing a bonnet to bed. For my next application I’m going to double up the legs for larger curls and I’m going to part my hair at the crown so that my hair isn’t so flat the next day.

Easy to sleep in! Great Product!
I absolutely loved my octocurl. It is hands down the best way to get heatless curls. I have tried all of the new trendy heatless curlers I’ve seen on tik tok & none of them worked (flat curls that didn’t hold, not easy to sleep in, hard to put on.) I had lost all hope on achieving heatless curls. The octocurl gave me good voluminous curls that lasted all day, and it was very easy & comfortable to sleep in. It was easy to put on & wrap my hair in, unlike the other heatless curl methods. I get so many compliments when I use the octocurl on my hair. It’s an absolutely must have! If you’re thinking about buying one, I HIGHLY recommend! I also recommend the cotton fabric opposed to the satin. The cotton holds the hair in place all night.Thank you Octocurl!

Good, but this idea could be improved.
I was looking for a heatless way to curl my hair that is a step up from the old robe belt method. My Grey hair gets damaged and frizzy with heat. Thought I would try this. I got the microfiber white one in medium size. Medium size worked for my length hair, but just barely. I doubled it up in front, but did single strands on the back because I have thick hair. The distance around my head required the buckle, which leaves an imprint on your forehead, to be all the way out and very tight. When done wrapping you can move the band back off your forehead. I had trouble curling behind my head, and the curls show it.I think it would work better in terrycloth. The micro fiber stayed damp for 5 hours.Also the buckle is uncomfortable, so that could be improved. For the most part, the curls were nice, but the design could use improvement.

Awkward but Works Once You Get the Hang of It
This Octocurl headband is honestly one of the most awkward contraptions I’ve tried, but once you figure it out, it does create pretty curls—especially for short hair.I just wish the legs were adjustable or could slide around, which would make styling a lot easier and more comfortable. It’s not the most user-friendly, but it gets the job done if you’re patient!

Octocurl short hair
I have hair just above my shoulder and could consider that “short”… but this will not come close to working for me. You’ll need hair well below your shoulder length to have a hope of making this work. Plus, the top of your hair will flat as a board. Eh. Then there is how to ‘tie them up’ at the end. Total nightmare. I cannot recommend this to anyone, but it seemed like worth a try. It is soft and in theory you might be able to sleep on it, but why? Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. All of my reviews reflect my honest, personal experience with the reviewed item – your experience may be different. I am not influenced by any outside source.
