Saalt vs Peachlife comparison — Saalt wins, for me!
I love the Saalt! After doing lots of research, I decided to buy the 2-pack. I’m 27 and have a somewhat outdoorsy job, but no serious exercise (just walking, hiking). The only other cup I’ve used was the Peachlife (Firm, Magenta). That was my first cup, which I had for a year. It was comfortable, but I struggled getting it to open. I appreciate the Peachlife for being a good training cup for me, but now that I’m comfortable and have a sense of what to do, the Saalt is better. Both the large and small Saalts fit me, but I find the smaller one more comfortable. I’ve been using Saalt for several months — this is my permanent cup now and I feel no need to keep looking. If you’re trying to decide, here’s my comparison:SAALT CUPS vs. PEACHLIFE (Firm)SIZE: Peachlife is between the small and large Saalt in size. If you’ve bought the 2-pack Saalt and find the small too small and the large too big, Peachlife may be your goldilocks. Peachlife is also narrower in shape and doesn’t have a lip on the top of the cup. However, the Peachlife’s ring is noticeable if your cup travels or sits low.FIRMNESS: Even Peachlife’s “Firm” cup is noticeably softer and less resistant than both the small and large Saalt. Peachlife’s products bend under pressure more easily and are generally thought of as a “softer/bendable” cup in terms of firmness. Because I have firmer muscles, I struggled getting Peachlife to open after inserting it and couldn’t find a reliable trick even after a year. Saalt is considered “medium” firmness as cups go.STEM: Peachlife’s cups have a ring stem. This made me feel more comfortable when I was just starting out because I worried about the cup getting stuck and not being able to grab it with how slippery everything is. Later, I found out **you don’t pull the stem to remove a cup!** It’s not a tampon. The stem is just for an assist in wiggling the cup down until you can grab the base. Once I learned that this type of removal is comfier, I was more annoyed with the Peachlife stem bc the ring is quite large — it often slipped out and I could feel it. I’m more comfortable with the Saalt’s flexible stem. It’s not as sturdy and the lines on it feel like weak points, but the grip is better on the base. Overall I like the Saalt style better. When the Saalt stem slips out, it’s not as uncomfortable and I can always trim the stem if it ever gets too bothersome.COMFORT: This is completely subjective, but I find the Saalt cups more comfortable. The stem doesn’t bother me as much. Since I walk/hike often and have stronger muscles, the firmness makes the Saalt cups easier to insert. I use the C-fold for the Saalt (it doesn’t open with the punch-down for me). I have experienced mild cramps with both my Saalts and the Peachlife, but I also feel cramps without them (I can end all cramps with Advil if it gets too bad). The cup that triggers the least amount of cramping for me is the smaller Saalt. All these cups have slightly raised lettering on the exterior, which may not be comfortable if you’re more sensitive to that sort of thing.OVERALL: Both Peachlife and Saalt are good cups. They’re just different. In using the Peachlife, I found that I had to spend more time adjusting after insertion, and I wasn’t always sure that it was in properly. In the beginning, I could often feel the cup up there. I attribute much of this to it being my first cup and user error. Now that I have a better idea of what to do (thanks to training myself with Peachlife) the Saalt is a better fit for me and gives me more peace of mind. Still, I think Peachlife would be good for someone who needs a very soft or narrower cup. I’ve never experienced substantial leaks with any of them, but I still use pads as backup. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. Choosing a cup is tough. There’s a website and YouTube Channel called “Put A Cup In It” that was extremely helpful through my learning process — I highly recommend it! (They won’t review Peachlife products though).

Great cup, super comfortable and easy to get the hang of.
I researched menstrual cups for a while before finally deciding to go with the Saalt cup. I read tons of reviews and watched you tube videos of people who tried various brands to get a sense of the good, bad and ugly of the cup, and each of the most popular brands. Then I chose Saalt, because it had a very soft and flexible stem, the large cup was larger than many brands which I needed for my heavy days, the blue/red color was pretty to avoid obvious staining early, and i could save money and frustration from tampons. Now that I have finally tried it, i am so happy i did. The cup is super comfortable oncer you get the hang of putting it in and taking it out of your body. My first time, I wasn’t sure that the cup fully opened inside, and so kept taking it back out and starting all over. But after a couple of times, I finally just had to trust. For the first couple of hours, I kept checking my underwear for leaks but there were none. Then, I totally forgot about it and I was good for the entire night!!! No leaks, no discomfort. Didn’t even feel it. The next morning, I struggled a little to pull the cup out because I didn’t want to spill. They recommend doing this in the shower your first time and I took their advice. I did finally get it out, cleaned it out and put it back in. Again, triple checking for leaks but again all good. So excited. This really relieves the hassle of needing to remember to pack tampons everywhere I go, or discreetly taking a tampon with me to the bathroom at the office (which I always forget). I do still wear a panty liner just in case, but so far so good. One pro-tip: you might want to cut your fingernails the first time you do this until you get the hang of it. Just saying.

Finally found Goldilocks!
I had my doubts, but I finally have my Goldilocks cups! Previously used Fleur small and Lunette large most regularly. Liked the firmness of the Lunette because it made it easy to insert/open, but the prominent rim meant it was a bit uncomfortable sometimes while in and downright painful at others when removing (vaginismus doesn’t make it easy either). It also frequently leaked. To the point that I would still need a pad at all times, even when changing 4-6 hrs during the day. Fleur was a lot more comfortable (except for the giant, ribbed stem), but so soft that it never seemed to open fully and would flatten inside me whenever I would lie down. So leaks. On first inspection of the Saalts, the silicon feels great–very high quality. The vent-hole angles are a bit extreme, so it may be a little harder to clean them out with each rinse, but no problems through the first several cycles of use. I was most worried about the stem–I am very stem-dependent to facilitate removal. Rather than raised ridges like the Lunette and Fleur, Saalt has engraved lines into the stem. Since the silicone can be slippery with regular use, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get it out. Almost sent them back on sight, but so glad I decided to try them!Firmness is very similar to Lunette, so it’s very easy to insert and open. Stays open and in place while sleeping and while active. But it feels much more comfortable in place because the rim isn’t so harshly prominent and the very stem that I was worried about has no poke-y ridges. Removal has happily proven to be easy (and less painful) with the engraved grip lines on the stem, and the base of the cup is easier to grab, even with it’s bell shape. Maybe it’s because I have so many fewer leaks? Which is the best news of all–no longer need pads or Thinx to back up. Also don’t need to try to empty every 4 hours to prevent leaks. Can go 6-8 hrs with the large cup on first day and 12 hours all others. Hadn’t happened with the old cups thought the first 4 days.Saalt–you changed my life. Don’t change a thing because you’ve perfected the menstrual cup!

Okay so a little history for me, I have always had really heavy periods, I’m talking the not able to leave the house kind of periods, the type that consume you for the few days a month that you are on. I have to use double protection (super size) pads and tampons, which have to be changed so frequently I would avoid going out or doing anything during this time. I lost sleep from being uncomfortable at night and having to dash to the toilet constantly to avoid ruining yet another item of clothing/bedding and felt uncomfortable throughout anyway due to passing clots etc.. you get the gist, I have been having a bad time every month, the only exception to this being the blissful 9 months of pregnancy and 9 months breastfeeding my son that held the dreaded period at bay. This may be TMI but I want to illustrate just how bad my periods have been throughout my adult life. So last week a few days before my period was due I took the plunge and ordered a Saalt cup, I have wanted to try a cup for a while, mostly due to the environmental impact of sanitary waste but also to see if there was another way to make my periods more tolerable. Well I have to say this is the best decision I could have made. This cup has enabled me to continue about my weekend as if I were not even on my period. Once you get the knack of the placement (there are lots of instructional videos on line, I would definitely recommend you watching some beforehand) its comfortable to wear and secure. I did use a small pad for some added protection just in case it didn’t work but I really didn’t need to bother. This may sound a bit over the top but this Saalt cup has changed my life! My husband even said this morning he’d noticed a difference in me. I have been able to go out all weekend with no worries about flooding or getting caught short without a toilet. One thing I will say is that as my periods are heavy the cup can be somewhat messy to change and I haven’t yet had enough practice to mean I would be confident changing it anywhere but my own bathroom on the heaviest days. Having said that this wasn’t an issue for me as I was only out of the house for a maximum of 6 hours at any point which meant that I didn’t need to empty the cup whilst I was out. If you’ve been thinking about it I urge you to try this set, they’re great. Just do some research/watch some videos and find one that’s a good quality and take the plunge. This cup is fantastic, made from soft silicone that is sturdy enough not to loose its shape, its so comfortable. Its easy to insert and remove with the help of a flexible stem and the soft rings around the base of the cup aid you when removing it. It will take a bit of getting use to but after the initial worry of getting it in the right place I have had no issues. I had seen some reviews from people saying that they had to make a dash to a hospital to have it removed but now having used one I really don’t see how that can happen, it must be a very rare occurrence. Oh and to top it off Saalt work with charities that support women and girls around the world suffering from period poverty. So there you have it, good for you, good for the environment and good for your soul.. what more can you ask for!! I just wish I had bought these sooner!
