Jasmine Pearls are a fine representative of the art of handcrafted tea, requiring careful, skilled plucking and processing to achieve beautiful pearls with smooth green tea flavor and rich jasmine aroma.
The process of making Jasmine Pearls begins by plucking only the newly sprouted spring season leaves of the tea plant. Although the top bud and two leaves are plucked along with the stem, the lower leaves are discarded and only the bud and long stem are retained.
Using traditional bamboo trays, the buds are withered in direct sun or over low heat to reduce moisture and make them supple and conducive to rolling. Once adequate suppleness is achieved, top bud and stem are gently twisted in between the thumb and index finger to bring the shape into that of a ‘pearl’. It takes at least 2000 pearls to make one pound of tea.
The rolled pearls are then heat infused with jasmine flowers several times to achieve the desired strength of aroma. High grade Jasmine Pearls undergo this process at least five times.
Although green teas are made at different times during the year, the most flavorful are typically spring plucked. Yet the most fragrant jasmine flowers blossom in summer. A lot of skill is therefore needed by Jasmine Pearl tea makers to strike a good balance between the leaf and the flowers.

The MOST amazing experience I never expected.
The MOST amazing experience I never expected.Let me start by saying that I never get excited about flora smells and although I enjoy hot tea and coffee, I never expected to write this long of a review. If you don’t want to read it all, then skip to the bottom for a summary.I’ve never been drawn to floral aromas and Jasmine didn’t really draw me to this product at first. I was looking for a very traditional Chinese Green Tea for health benefits and reported anti cancer properties. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15251172 . I actually watched an episode of Modern Marvels titled Tea and learned that serious tea drinkers in China keep the leaf in the tea when they drink it which makes sense if you want all the good stuff in your tea. Green Tea has antioxidants to slow aging, caffeine to get you going, and Theanine to relax you, and help prevent the jitters.Taken from the website Finest Herbal Tea: http://finest-herbal-tea.com/2011/10/know-how-green-tea-relaxes-you/The key ingredient in green tea that leads to a state of physical and mental relaxation is the chemical known as L-theanine. Theanine is a derivative of the amino acid glutamate. It is found in higher concentration in green teas than in other tea.So I prepared my tea according to the instructions on the nicely made can. I removed the lid, and found a tightly fitting metal seal holding in the finest aroma I have found in any tea. The Jasmine is amazing and I was immediately taken back to memories of my childhood at Grandma and Grandpas house playing in the yard full of flowers. It was actually kinda shocking. I placed one teaspoon in a glass cup, grabbed some bottled water for the tea kettle, and heated to around 175F. I poured hot water in the cup and stirred. It was a little weak at first, so I added another teaspoon of the Green Tea Pearls. Now it was a little bitter, crap, well I’ll re-steep the used pearls and add that brew back. It was pretty nice, very foral and mostly smooth. I swore I would not use any sweeter, but I did concede and add my Raw Honey.Once I added the Raw Honey, it was AMAZING! I could smell the Jasmine and when combined with the honey, it was like I was in the field of Jasmine and eating the honey the bees made from it. Not too sweet, nice smooth flavor, and floral Jasmine. I was immediately relaxed and happy.Summary:Overall, amazing, buy the honey to go with it and go a little heavy on the tea, use good water, and don’t get it too hot. Boiling is too much, what I did was boil the water in the kettle and then add some more room temp bottled water. Some people could easily say that it isn’t worth the effort to use good water, the right temp, and the right honey, but let me tell you from experience, it is.Honey Link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Z93FQC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Delicious at a good price.
I love a good sencha. I hate bitter. This tea can be steeped at least two times and does not get bitter. The jasmine is lovely. I brew this tea at 130° to 140° for the first pot and up to 160° for the second. I have bought a great many jasmine green teas as of late and very few of them have been good enough let alone good. This is high on my list because in addition to being delicious it is also very well priced. It lasts a long time which is a great thing because it’s a good tea. My criteria is excruciatingly high otherwise I might call this a great tea. But I use it a lot, I will buy it again and I highly recommend it. Nuff said.

    Wow, Amazing
This tea had its own sweetness to it so i was able to use half the normal amount of honey i use in my tea. Just the smell when opening the jar for the first time was unlike any experience i’ve had and i’ve tried and opened many different jasmine teas. I was able to get the same strength out of three steeps. That in itself was a blessing. This may be expensive , however when you think about the process they use to make this tea and how they insure quality, it is well worth the price. I will make this last as long as i can but it’s certainly a very robust, full of flavor, A-1 amazing tea.

My Chinese friends thought it weak … but, I LOVE it!
I bought this tea as a present for Chinese friends. The wife reported back to me that the tea and jasmine are very weak. I bought this as a special treat for them — so that was disappointing for me to hear that report (I asked her to be honest). This is an additional comment on this tea. After posting my first review, I asked my friend if I could try the tea. So, she brought the package back (very nicely packaged), and I tried it. I absolutely love it. It’s the best jasmine green tea I have ever drunk. I walked to my friend’s office and told her that I loved it. She looked in my cup and said that I put too much in the cup. I said, “I guess you have to put in whatever works.”So, these are two different opinions on the same tea. I personally love a mild tea that is not bitter. This is mild and so fragrant. I really do love it. But, my friends from China thought it weak. They do drink a lot more tea than I do, and they drink teas like black oolong and dragon way (which I have never had).Anyhow, you may have to gauge this tea by whether you like a strong tea or a mild one. This one is mild, but also very flavorful and fragrant. For me, it’s the best I’ve ever had.

Good quality in a market where quality is not usually there
I’ve bought a lot of jasmine tea in my life and more often than not, I’ve felt cheated. A lot of the jasmine tea, especially low-priced brands, are just regular tea with a jasmine flavor sprayed on and with little jasmine taste. Not this one, and I brew it for both hot and cold tea.

Quality, freshness, and product presentation has gone down
Second purchase and the quality of this product seems to have gone down dramatically. My first issue is that it arrived in cardboard with two plastic caps on either end. This is not what is pictured above. When I first purchased this item, it arrived in a tin can (as pictured in their carousel). My second issue is that the quality and freshness of this product has gone down. When I first bought this tea a few months ago, it arrived in the tin can, and when I opened it, a pleasant Jasmine aroma hit me. With this second purchase, that was not the case. It smelt like nothing. My third issue is that upon brewing, the taste of this jasmine tea was rather bland and tasted like generic green tea. It’s disappointing to see a product stylized and presented as one thing but then when it arrives, it looks totally different. The only plus is that it was easier to open.
